Red Rock Cottage:
Private Self-catering Accommodation Sleeps 4 adults + 4 children Red Rock Cottage is situated away from the farmhouse and Studio Flat in a secluded copse of trees at the foot of a beautiful red sandstone outcrop, called Red Rock. The setting is sheltered and peaceful with views towards the sunset and nothing but acacias, Klein Karoo koppies and veld. The cottage comprises two spacious double en suite bedrooms. Each bedroom has it's own separate entrance and the en suite bathrooms with showers are super modern, spacious and completely private. A sofa bench in each room doubles as a single bed for children or adults. The first bedroom has it's own fireplace and a small private stoepie with seating at the back of the cottage. The living area is open plan and consists of a fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove and lots of storage. The dining area sits adjacent to large windows and glass patio doors, opening onto the outside living area and views of pure Karoo koppies and veld. The lounge area has comfortable sofa benches which also double as single beds for children. The free-standing fireplace ensures cosy winter nights. Glass patio doors open onto the private outside space with table and seating plus braai. If you are not the braai type; there are patio fires to keep you warm outside whilst enjoying the spectacular Karoo night skies. Things to do: Have a picnic on Red Rock and watch the full moon rise or head to the nearby dam (after rains) to watch the water birds and terrapins bop in and out of the water. A 10-minute amble will take you to the river and its grassy banks or sandy beaches for a swim in the rock pools when it's full or just to sit amongst the reeds and listen to the birds. A walk in the opposite direction sets you on another adventure exploring the magical mini-valleys, dry river beds, fossils and strange succulents in the northern section of the farm. If you cross over the river, you can explore more riverrine thicket and bushveld, deep klofies and tall Karoo koppies with beautiful fossils, boerboon and gwarrie trees and even small cliffs for the more adventurous scramblers. Come and have a look at how we grow vegetables naturally and organically in our permaculture gardens and meet out happy free ranging chickens. |
